Bogo Blay Labran David (born June 23, 1994), better known by his stage name Bogo Blay, is a Ghanaian singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was born in Goaso, located in the Ahafo Region of Ghana, to a business couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bogoblay. Bogo Blay grew up in a large Christian and Islamic family setting, with two sisters and one brother.

Bogo Blay spent his childhood in Goaso and attended Bright Star Preparatory/JHS in the same town. He later attended Jachie Pramso Senior High School in Kumasi. During his school years, he excelled in athletics, football, and cultural dance but initially had no passion for music, aspiring instead to become an aerospace engineer.
Music Career
Bogo Blay’s interest in music was ignited in 2012 during his high school years when he created a chant (Jama) in the form of a rap for his school’s inter-schools competition. The positive reception from his fellow students motivated him to explore music further. Being entirely self-taught, he honed his skills by listening to nature, researching, and drawing inspiration from life experiences.
Bogo Blay participated in and won nu merous music competitions, including Vodafone Icons 2018, MTN Hitmaker 2015 Radio Edition, Adom FM Kasahare, Kesben FM Party mix, GERSS 13 Rap battle, and Viasat1 Kill the beat. In 2019, he released his first official single, “ZAM,” followed by other singles and freestyles like “ALREADY MADE,” “Colorbook,” “JANGO,” “Mawea Mawe,” “MEDICINE,” “Antoa,” and “Twenty Four (24).”
Musical Style and Influences
Bogo Blay explores various genres, with his current music falling under the Afrobeats umbrella. He is working on developing a unique genre name to encompass his style of music. Bogo Blay cites Bob Marley as his biggest influence, drawn to the simplicity and timeless nature of Marley’s lyrics.
Collaborations and Achievements
In 2019 and 2023, Bogo Blay collaborated with Kuami Eugene, and in 2023, he worked with Medikal, which he describes as a great experience. On March 24, 2023, he released his debut album titled “WAILING MONSTER.” Notable achievements in his career include winning the Vodafone Icons competition in 2018 and being able to release his first album.

Bogo Blay is passionate about children and enjoys cooking. He maintains a balance between his personal and professional life through discipline, often keeping his personal life private. He is working on establishing a foundation to support underprivileged children and the homeless in society.
